HERTFORD TOWN COUNCIL SUPPORTS CHARITIES WITH OVER £55,000 IN GRANTS.

Hertford Town Council’s Finance, Policy and Administration Committee met on Tuesday 2nd January 2024 where grants totalling over £55,000 were awarded to six organisations and good causes in the Hertford area.

The recipients are:

Active in the Community were awarded nearly £26 000 to kickstart the operation a refurbished Pinehurst Community Centre. The centre will continue to provide a vital role for provision of services to people in the Kingsmead Ward area.

Phoenix Charity was awarded £28 000 to fund detox treatment centre attendance for individuals who cannot access the support from other providers. The Phoenix Charity will direct clients to expert medical providers in local treatment centres.

Hertford Choral Society were awarded £600 was received towards funding for the 2024 singing workshop. This will benefit over 60 residents for Hertford.

Bengeo Women’s Institute were awarded £500 towards hall hires costs for its meetings in 2024. These meetings provide vital social interaction for members in the Bengeo area. The Mayor, Cllr Vicky Smith is hoping to visit this group soon.

Hertford District Scouts were awarded £350 towards the cost of the 2024 St Georges Day Parade in Hertford. Committee were pleased to provide support for this important day in the Scouts calendar. Around 400 Scouts resident in Hertford will participate in this event.

Herts Book Festival was awarded £1 200 towards the cost of delivering the Herts Book Festival in 2024. The 2024 festival follows the successful 2023 event that took place in Hertford Castle Grounds.

The Chair of the Finance, Policy and Administration Committee, Cllr Paul Williams, said:

"I am very pleased that Hertford Town Council has been able to provide grant funding to these very worthy local organisations. All the recipients make an important contribution to our community. We hope this support will make a difference to those whose time and efforts are valued by so many."

Hertford Town Council provides grant funding for a range of purposes, including public events, projects being undertaken by local voluntary organisations and endeavours by individuals which show a clear benefit to Hertford residents.
The next round of grants will be considered in March 2024 and application forms and application deadlines can be obtained from www.hertford.gov.uk/community-grants/
