Hertford Retailers Invited to Enter Winning Windows Christmas Competition

Posted in Press Release

The Winning Windows Competition has now opened, and all of Hertford’s traders are invited to enter. The theme this year is ‘Merry & Bright’. It is hoped the competition will bring Christmas cheer to the town centre and encourage the community to support the local traders at this important time of year. The competition is organised by Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre on behalf of Hertford Town Council.

The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Sue Barber and the Deputy Mayor Cllr Mrs Rosemary Bolton, will have the unenviable task of choosing the three best dressed windows and will announce the winner who will be given a certificate and a prize at the annual Christmas Gala on Friday 25th November 2022. To enter, retailers should email The Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre which is located at 10-12 The Wash, on tic@hertford.gov.uk and supply the business name, address, phone number, email address and contact name. The deadline for entering the competition and completing the window displays is Friday 18th November 2022 as judging will take place shortly after this date in time for the announcement of the winners.

The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Sue Barber, said

"Christmas is a magical time of the year not just for children but for adults alike. Bringing memories of the past of when we were once children. Our local town businesses bring people to visit Hertford all through the year. In these difficult economic times, I would like to say a big thank you to all our shop keepers who enter the competition. I know it will take time to create these window displays on the run up to what is a busy time of the year. These windows add a festive feel to our town, and I know that many families walk through the town with their children and will look forward to seeing each one. Every year the standard is so high and so it will be a difficult decision to make, so a big thank you to all that enter."
