Crowds Rocked up and Rocked out at Free Music Festival

Posted in Press Release

Thousands of visitors attended the free charity music festival, Rock at the Castle, on the grounds of Hertford Castle on Sunday 6th August. The famous annual festival organised by Hertford Town Council saw an estimated 8,500 visitors, with musicians and bands performing across three stages. This diverse line-up included and showcased young and upcoming talents covering a range of musical tastes.

The musicians rocked out to crowds who sang and danced the day away within the picturesque Castle setting. The chosen charity to benefit from Rock at the Castle this year was the Hertford Pantry, whose dedicated volunteers raised £2,519.17 on the day. The Hertford Pantry funds raised from the event will support local families who are currently struggling with the rising cost of living. The donations received from Rock at the Castle will help purchase essential supplies like ambient food, sanitary items, baby products, and toiletries.

The Hertford Pantry Charity have said: “The Hertford Pantry is thrilled to share that they were nominated and awarded the honour of becoming The Town Council's Charity of choice for their annual Rock at the Castle event on August 6th, 2023.

A dedicated team of volunteers from the Hertford Pantry enthusiastically collected donations and assisted at the tombola stall.

The outpouring of donations from the community left us truly amazed, and we are excited to reveal that we raised a substantial amount. These funds will further our mission of helping local families, and our ongoing efforts to prevent food waste in landfills.”

“If you would like to know more about our work then please take a look at our Facebook and Instagram accounts.”

Hertford Town Council’s Chair of the Development and Leisure Committee, Councillor Ann Woodward said: “It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying this free event at the Castle and giving so generously to the chosen charity, Hertford Pantry.”

Hertford Town Council is grateful to our headline sponsor, McMullen’s Brewery, and our associate sponsor, Substance Global.
