The Mayor of Hertford's Community Awards 2025

The Mayor of Hertford has recognised and celebrated Hertford’s community heroes, as nominated by you. 

The Winners of the Mayor's Community Awards were celebrated and presented with a certificate last week at the Annual Town Meeting on Thursday 20th March 2025. 

The Mayor's Community Awards:

Individual: Cheryl Jackson - recognised her hard work and dedication in supporting people through the Hertford and District Food Bank.

Organisation: Home-Start Hertfordshire Hertford Family Group - for supporting young families who are vulnerable or struggling, perhaps with poor mental health or social isolation, providing them with a safe space and reliable, non-judgemental support.

The Mayor's Environmental Awards:

Individual: Chris Dixon - for giving up his time to create an online map of cycle routes around the area.

Organisation: Kingsmead Residents Association - for being extremely active in a wide range of environmental activities such as litter picking, hedge planting in Pinehurst Community Garden, encouraging residents to look after their gardens in a nature friendly way, and most recently working with the Hertford Pantry to set up a hub at Pinehurst Community Centre.

The 'Spirit of Hertford' Award:

Kev Saunders - for bringing an enormous amount of joy to the town, drawing in large numbers of visitors, and nurturing and promoting new talent through a whole range of projects, from the much loved Musical Mystery Tour as was, Rock at the Castle, and most recently the Kevolution at the Hertford Club.
