Tea and Tour with the Mayor

The Mayor of Hertford invites you to Hertford Castle for Tea and a Tour!

Join the Mayor in the Hertford Castle grounds for tea and cake (alternatives available) included in the ticket! 

Hertford Castle will be open for you to explore the Castle rooms, including the Mayor's Parlour, Robing room and the themed basement. This event will give you an insight into the historic Grade 1 listed building, with tour guides on hand to impart historical knowledge. Included in the ticket is the Mayor's Art Exhibition and Young Persons Art Exhibition! (Young People who are exhibiting artwork can attend free of charge but must book a slot using under 3s/Young Person Exhibitors ticket option)

Tours will operate every 30/45 mins from 12 pm, with the last tour at 3.30 pm.

Please note the building is not suitable for wheelchairs, prams or anyone with restricted mobility due to stairs.

Entry information 

The event is £7 for an Adult £3 for Children (under 18) and Under 3s and Young Art Exhibitors are FREE! All proceeds will be donated to the Mayor of Hertford’s Charity Appeal Fund. 

The Castle grounds can be accessed by foot at any of the following pedestrian gates, Castle Street, St Andrew Street Car Park, Main Castle Gate off The Wash, through the Moat Garden on Castle Street, or the gate off of Gascoyne Way. 

Parking

There is no parking at Hertford Castle (including disabled) but there are a number of car parks close to the Castle. Please click here for more information and map. 

Amenities 

Toilets, disabled toilets & baby changing facilities are available inside the castle, please speak to a volunteer on the door for access.
