Hertford Castle & Town Centre Sensory Trail

This October Half Term, the Hertford Castle Greenspace Renewal Project, a National Lottery Heritage Funded Project, are excited to invite children of all ages to participate in a FREE Sensory Trail of Hertford Town and Hertford Castle. The trail is designed to engage different senses and is particularly suitable for children with special educational needs or disabilities.

Simply bring a pencil, collect an activity booklet and follow the trail around the Castle grounds and into the Town Centre to discover what you can hear, smell and touch outdoors and amongst nature. 

The activity booklet can be downloaded here or collected from the Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre located at the Wash. Please note opening times as follows: 

Tuesday-Saturday: 9.30 am - 5.00 pm
Closed Mondays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 

Entry information 

The event is FREE of charge to attend.

The Castle grounds can be accessed by foot at any of the following pedestrian gates, Castle Street, St Andrew Street Car Park, Main Castle Gate off The Wash, through the Moat Garden on Castle Street, or the gate off of Gascoyne Way. 

Parking 

There is no parking at Hertford Castle (including disabled) but there are a number of car parks close to the Castle which are free to use on Sundays. Please click here to download a map of the local car parks.
