Hertford Castle Heritage Day

Hertford Castle Heritage Day

As part of the national Heritage Open Days weekend, Hertford Town Council hosts its annual Heritage Day on Sunday 8th September at Hertford Castle.

Castle Grounds:

From 12-4pm, take a step back in time and experience the beautiful Castle lawn transformed to include a small settlement of interactive medieval encampments. Visitors will also be able enjoy a full programme of entertainment including fire breathing, storytelling and Viking re-enactment battle scenes. Plus, wield a bow and arrow in the archery workshop, take part in Viking games, participate in the re-enactment of the Castle's history and discover the history within the Castle, which will be open for visitors to explore.

Heritage Day Programme

Vintage Buses:

Travel back in time on vintage buses which will be returning to Hertford and will be passing the Heritage day celebrations at the Castle. Buses that where built during the late 1940s and early 1950s will be providing free rides in and around Hertford. Trips to Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage and Knebworth are just some of the locations which are around one hour long. Shorter trips of around 15 minutes are available from Old London Road in Hertford. Buses will run from 11am until 5pm, boarding and alighting at Old London Road and The Wash (outside BEAM and Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre). For full details purchase a programme in advance from the Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre.
