Hertford Castle BioBlitz
On Sunday 23rd March, 12-4pm, come and help us hunt for every type of mammal, insect, bird, arachnid, tree, flower, and fungi at Hertford Castle by taking part in Hertford Castle’s BioBlitz!
A BioBlitz is a race against time to create a snapshot of the variety of life found in a specific location. Wildlife experts and the public will work together, within 4 hours, to find and identify as many species of plants, animals, and fungi as possible in Hertford Castle’s grounds.
With your help we’ll have a clear record of what wonderful wildlife we have in our grounds, and will be able to take steps to better protect it in the future.
As part of the event, the public are invited to take part in geophysical surveying with TerraDat to explore what may lie under the grounds of the castle! Plus, the Castle will be open to explore FREE of charge.
This event is free to attend and is being run as part of the development of the Hertford Castle Greenspace Renewal project, a National Lottery Heritage Fund backed project looking to conserve nature, preserve heritage and improve infrastructure throughout the grounds.
